Here at Doxbond, we understand that criminals will do whatever it takes to get their hands on your data – including rooting through bins in search of documents that include your personal details (e.g. your name, date of birth, address, contact details, bank details, passport number, driver’s license number, etc). 100% of paper & card is recycled at Doxbond Cambridge.

That’s why, to ensure your identity is protected, we recommend you destroy all personal documents that you no longer need. This includes:

  • Bank statements
  • Credit card statements
  • Utility bills
  • Phone bills
  • Payslips, p45s and p60s
  • Tax returns
  • Warranties
  • Insurance documents
  • Medical records
  • Envelopes with your address on
  • Boarding passes
  • Hotel itinerary
  • Photo ids
  • Old photos

And (by far!) the most secure way of destroying these is domestic shredding.

What is domestic paper shredding, and who can benefit?

Domestic shredding is a very secure way to dispose of sensitive documents within your home. It’s both quick and easy and prevents your data from being lost or, even worse, stolen and used fraudulently.

Of course, you could invest in a home office shredder and shred documents yourself, whenever you like. However, many people opt for domestic shredding services when they have too much personal paperwork to securely dispose of on their own. And that’s where we come in.

Our home shredding services are ideal if you’re:

  • Clearing out the attic
  • Disposing of the paperwork of someone who has died
  • Moving to a new house
  • Organising or decluttering your home
  • Running a business from home
  • Working with sensitive documents

We collect hundreds of bags of confidential waste from homes for shredding every day, so no papers sit around for weeks on end. There are no minimum requirements and – unlike small domestic shredders – our state-of-the-art machines can shred all types of paper, including newspapers, magazines and stapled documents.

How does domestic shredding work?

The way domestic paper shredding works is straightforward.

You can either fill your own bags and boxes with documents in your own time or, if you prefer, we can supply you with boxes.

Don’t worry about removing papers from ring binders, plastic wallets or folders – we can take care of this for you. Our shredder will also destroy paperclips and staples along with the paper.

As soon as you’re ready, get in touch with us and we’ll visit your home, collect your unwanted paperwork and transport it securely to our facility. We will then store it safely until it is shredded on-site by our partner company’s industrial shredders – capable of shredding huge amounts of documents within minutes.

All shredded remains are then recycled and you will be provided with a Certificate of Destruction. The certificate is legal proof that you have ensured the security of your personal (and business-related) documents, and typically includes the date and time at which your papers were destroyed.

Alternatively, if you would prefer to witness your documents and papers being shred, this too can be arranged. We offer a range of on-site services and will happily bring our home shredding services to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

The cost of domestic shredding depends on different factors, including:

• The amount of paper that needs shredding

• Where you’re located

• Whether you need any papers stored offsite

• Whether we collect your papers or you drop them off at our facility

Here at Doxbond, we’re proud to offer some of the most competitive prices for domestic shredding in Cambridge and the surrounding areas, and we’d be more than happy to offer a personalised quote for all of your domestic documents.

Our domestic shredding services may be more affordable, but this doesn’t mean we cut any corners or make any sacrifices when it comes to the quality of our work or customer service.

We do everything by the book, so you can be confident that your sensitive information is in the safest hands possible.

Using professional domestic shredding services comes with many benefits.

Not only is it a far more efficient option than shredding everything at home yourself, but it also offers:

Enhanced security

If you shred your own documents, there’s always the risk that your information can fall into the wrong hands and be used without your knowledge or say-so.

When working with a professional shredding company, like ourselves, you can be confident that your papers will be destroyed in the safest way possible, as we have multiple security measures in place to ensure that identity theft can’t happen.

Improved destruction results

When your papers go through, state-of-the-art industrial shredders, they’re unrecoverable – reconstruction is impossible, – as tiny pieces are mixed in with other bits of shredded paper.

Reduced environmental impact

At Doxbond, we aim to recycle at least 99% of the paper we shred. This helps to reduce your carbon footprint, and it means you don’t have to worry about it being sent to the local landfill site.

In recent years, there has been an increasing focus on the importance of recycling, and at Doxbond, we’re committed to getting rid of all shredded remains in the most environmentally friendly way possible.

At least 99% of your papers will be recycled, and we aim to recycle all other materials as much as possible.

Any materials we can’t recycle will be sent to a specialist EFW/RDF facility, where they’ll be turned into energy to generate heat and power – rather than rotting in a landfill.

At Doxbond, our customers are our top priority.

For the 30+ years we’ve been in business, we’ve been providing top-class customer service, and our team is constantly surpassing the expectations our customers set for them, going above and beyond to cater to their requirements.

With our extensive knowledge and experience, we’re able to provide the exact level of service you need, and adapt our services to meet your every demand.

With a UKAS-accredited ISO 9001 certification under our belts, you can have full confidence in the quality of our domestic shredding services, and rest assured that your personal papers and sensitive information are in the most capable hands.
